You can flip through all of the channels digital or cable and I can guarantee you will find at least one commercial that features only slim models. What kind of image does that create for the youth of America? That only sleek and slim people are accepted by society?
Of course there are other contributing factors to anorexia and binge eating such as Biological, physiological, and family as well as social pressures. Research shows that if a girl has a sibling with anorexia she is10 to 20 times more likely to develop the condition too. Families with drug and alchohol abuse also have a 10 to 20 time higher risk of developing an eating disorder. So the media isn’t totally responsible for anorexia and binge eating.
All over the world the standard of beauty in cultures is sleek slim people. Plus sized models are never used for advertising because the slim models are more visually appealing to the general audience. But the image it creates for people is anything but positive. This figure is extremely hard to obtain because a lot of your figure is determined biologically. Anorexia has been recognized as an eating disorder since the late 19th centuries and studies show that Anorexia and binge eating has increased with every decade.
Out of the approximate 6 billion people in the world about 10 million people suffer from some kind of eating disorder. More and more of these people are getting televisions and the programs on the TV contribute to eating disorders. If you watch most programs you’ll see that the bad guys and the other antagonists are usually portrayed as bigger and lazy especially in children’s shows. Examples such as super man, the twilight characters, and people like Ugly Betty on ABC are shown as bad and not in style or good. While a lot of little girls grow up with Barbie and ballet dancers that are all also slim. The thought that slimness, sleek bodies, and big muscles are implanted in the youth of America from a young age and that contributes greatly to eating disorders.
On shows like Entertainment tonight and the insider the shoot down celebrities for not having perfect bodies and teens who watch this get the idea that bodies that are average and that they should be happy with aren’t good enough when they really are. People should be proud of there bodies because the image of the “perfect body” doesn’t fit with a lot of peoples genetics and lifestyle and a lot of times that’s not something you can help so they should just be proud of there bodies and disregard what the media says and shows.

Thesis Statement- Risky Buisness Teen Eating Habits
Thesis-The media in today's society is partially responsible for the eating disorders that are common among teens.
Opposititon- The media is not responible for what people decide to do with their lives. The general media advertises using all of these sleek skinny people because it is better for avertisement and more appealing to the consumer. That creates the image for all of these celebrities that they have to be skinny to be beautiful and thats what yeens follow, not the example that the advertisement, the movies, tv shows, and other various forms of media show.
My Side- The media shows people whats beautiful, hot, and in style. the media defines the clothes people wear and the body type people should have. You always see images of super skinny models never plus sized models. That makes teens question if they are beautiful or skinny enough.

Real college essay draft
Music is what wakes me up in the morning; it’s what puts me to sleep. Music shapes my personality and my mood daily. I'm not talking about playing music all the time; I’m talking about just listening to it. My library contains all kinds of treasures from hip hop and rap, to folk and Latin jazz. Everyday music is the reasoning behind my attitude. Once I’ve listened to a song it gives me feeling and it becomes part of my mental library. It is referenced every time something gives me that same feeling as the 1st time I listened to it.
My mind is organized like an itunes library, when I feel like relaxed at the beach or out surfing with my cousin life to me feels seems like a reggae song that makes me feel like I can just go with the flow of the crystal clear water all around my body. Its days like these that Bob Marley and the Rebel Soulhajz are in my head and the feeling of island pride and relaxation is there.
Football games are where the music that plays in my head is fierce. Songs like New Divide by Linkin Park and Remember the Name by Fort Minor give me that angry animal like mentality. I don’t even need my Ipod to get in the game mood. The songs that play in my head make me feel like I am in a Nike commercial rocking Nike Super Bad cleats and feeling invincible. My mental music makes me feel like a missile that has football seeking sensors. It makes me feel like I can play varsity football already when I honestly can’t.
There are times when I feel like going out and having fun with my boys. I hardly have time for this but when I do I feel like im a character in the song “Rock Boys ( And the Winner is)” . I don’t know if you have ever heard that song but its about celebrating and having fun and being exclusive all in one night. Although im not the party type and my friends and I aren’t exactly exclusive its still a song that makes me think about going out. Its amazing that I can even be out with my cousins and still feel like that song.

The perks of being a Wall Flower is a coming of age novel because it describes Charlie's experiences that caused him to think outside the box and more like an adult. The book causes Charlie to experience things that cause him to question the way he sees people.

coming of age essay draft
Coming of age to me is when i can finally go to high school and be around people alot older and more mature then me. In that single moment when i first walked around campus on the 1st day of school, i knew that i had come of age. i was now in charge of what might maybe be the best time of my life and yet at the same time the most important part of my life. High school is when people decide what they want to be when they grow up, if they are going to go to college or no , or if they just want to be a bum and do drugs.
Before high school i was never givin that many options as to what im doing with my time. There were different clubs, teams, and crowds of people that all did different things. This was when i realized that i actually should care about what i wear on my body. It was easy to realize that i was not the only one realizing this, people that i knew before, girls with too much makeup on and guys with there football helmets in hand. At first i didnt get why people did all these things but i realized that this was part of there growing up proccess to and that they were doing this to show others how they have come of age.
Some people might think that a license or a drivers permit might symbolize that they have come of age. For others its a big party like on MTV or even more explicit stuff. But for me my coming of age expirience was a silent internal affair and it was one of those quoet things hardly anybody realizes is happening to you. It probably isnt known to many but in middle school i didnt have a family in school, a best friend, or even good friends. When i cam to high school i decided that i needed to surround myself with the good people and weed out those who i felt i didnt need and were not going to help me in the long run. I have become more of a crying shoulder for most of these girls in our "family" in school and thast what i wanted because that helped me find my quality friends.
its amazing to me that i learened and thought about this all in one silent moment without the influence of others. Thats how i knew that i had truly come of age, because my thoughts were mature and they wer emy own pure thoughts that were not polluted by what others think or say. Its crazy because im only in my sophmore year and im excited to see what kind of silent brain blast i have next that will lead me to my next conclusion. So although my official bed time is 9:30, i still play JV football, and i am not in a lovey dovey relationship that seems to come with high school, i feel that i came of age awhile ago and i have so much left to learn.
